Hello,
Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club will be hosting the Opti West Coast Championship Regatta this weekend, Oct. 22 & 23rd. CBYC is providing a continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday, as well as lunch both days and hamburger dinner at the clubhouse Saturday night ( for Competitors). Parents and coaches can purchase dinner on site.
The regatta forms are available at www.cbyc.org.
There will be two venues at the Regatta, one for Red, White and Blue Fleets, and one for Green Fleet (beginners-held on the inside). October winds in San Pedro are considerably less than in the Summer months, so we shouldn't see the heavy "Hurricane Gulch" winds we get each year at the Fun Regatta.
This is a qualifying Regatta for the Team Trials Regatta. At this time we have sailors coming in from Arizona, Canada, Washington and San Fransisco. There are 6 boats available to charter ($ 250.00 for both days) at this time and more boats may be available if needed. If you plan to race this event, please contact either Forest Gay at Cal Yacht (310-923-4567) or Carrie Dair (310-634-3697).
Next year....St Francis Yacht Club, San Fransisco Yacht Club, Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club and Cal Yacht Club will all be hosting Opti events. We are in the planning stages and seeking sponsors, to make a four regatta series for a California State Championship.
I hope to see some of the awesome King Harbor Juniors participate in this opportunity. I can think of several of you that are the perfect weight and ability that could do really well in this class.
Hope to see you!
